Barceló Santiago Tenerife

July 3, 2015

After 4 stressful weeks at university, my friend Anne and I went to Tenerife for a week full of relaxing, tanning and eating. I’m usually not a fan of package travels but when we found the Santiago Barceló Hotel via FTI for a little over 500€ (including flights), we decided to go for it. After all, we did need some rest after the final exams of our Bachelor’s degree. We both passed by the way; whoooop whooooooooooop!

After a long journey, we arrived around 10pm on Saturday night and that’s when they told us that there had been a problem with our room thus we had to spend the night in another hotel in the village. As I was tired and very hungry I didn’t like the sound of that at all but when they told us that we’d been upgraded to all inclusive to make up for the inconvenience AND after we had dinner, my mood lightened up again.

Waking up on Sunday morning at the Los Gigantes Hotel we had the perfect view of the sea and of our hotel. It was breathtaking! As we didn’t want to lose time, we took the taxi back to the Barceló Santiago, had breakfast and went to the pool before getting the keys to our room around noon. Our room was pretty standard but the view from the balcony onto the sea was unbeatable!

We had the most relaxing week! The food was really good (3x day buffet) – I ate way too much; oops. One of the reasons I don’t like to book all inclusive (or people who book it) is because I hate it when people waste food! If you take something from the buffet then please don’t take it in large portions if you’re not sure you like it! However, I have to say that people were quite civilized in the hotel – I didn’t notice that particular ‘put everything on your plate, take a bite and leave the rest’ behavior, which pleased me very much.

The view from our sunbeds was incredible as well; comparable to front row seats to watch the sea! Also the beach wasn’t very far away as we noticed on our second morning run.

Okay enough now, but if you ever want to spend a quiet holiday in the sun, this is definitely the place to go! It’s good value for money, both in terms of price and performance and the staff at the hotel were really friendly and helpful. And as I said – the views are unbeatable! Take a look at the pictures and you’ll see for yourself.
